This guide aims to provide information about the resources and services we provide which are particularly relevant for Doctors in all specialties

Using our Electronic Resources

To access HSELibrary e-resources (e-books, databases, e-journals, tools etc.) you need an 'OpenAthens' account.

If you don't have an account, you can apply for an OpenAthens account onlineYou will need a valid email address and your HSE employee number.

You can access resources listed on our homepage using your OpenAthens username and password.

Need extra help or training? 

Regular training sessions are available covering:

  • Introduction to healthcare library resources and services
  • Guidance on searching specific databases, such as CINAHL

We also provide details of training provided by resource vendors, such as EBSCO and the National Library of Medicine (who provide PubMed training), on the optimal use of these resources which our staff can attend.
