Policies & Documents - Ireland

A review of the Children’s Palliative Care Programme jointly developed by the Irish Hospice Foundation and HSE to enable provision of care for children with life limiting illnesses . 
 
Overview document developed by the National Development Committee for Children’s Palliative Care (NDC) was established by the Health Service Executive in in 2010. The NDC oversees the implementation of the recommendations contained within the national policy for children’s palliative care through collaborative action. This document highlights the achievements, challenges and future plans for the development of children’s palliative care services in Ireland.
 

The first needs assessment of Children's palliative care needs, jointly conducted by the Department of Health and Children and the Irish Hospice Foundation. This needs assessment presented steps for development of a nationwide approach to palliative care services for children and adolescents.

2010 - Palliative Care for Children with Life-limiting Conditions in Ireland – A National Policy

This national policy provides a framework for developing services for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Its recommends supporting families and health care professionals to provide home care for children with life limiting conditions. 

2013 Respite services for children with life-limiting conditions and their families in Ireland; a national needs assessment 

A review published by the Irish Hospice Foundation and Laura Lynn Children's hospice of respite facilities available to families caring for children with life limiting conditions.
